I thought I knew everything that was going on in Raleigh...then I had children. I was disappointed
when I would hear of festivals or events which occurred "last weekend". So, in November of 2007
I pieced together a few activities and created a silly little Word Doc, and emailed it to 7 friends
asking them if they wanted to share information on upcoming events. Now, Social Butterflies has near
2000 readers. Okay, not only readers, but friends. SB has become an online community submitting ideas
to keep our busy families 'in the know' about fun kid and family stuff. I was also a bit frustrated
when I read any media (magazines or websites) to find kid events and it was jam packed with advertisers
or the same event listed on the calender, for instance, the newest 3D movie at the same theater
every day... So, I do the work for you! I search for events that are the most interesting and not that
easy to find and I package them in a colorful, easy to read, hopefully exciting and occasionally
funny email for you. I sprinkle a few ads of local small and at home businesses which are so enjoyable,
I know you would want to hear about and support. I am so appreciative of the Social Butterflies sponsors!
They have ALL been so great to work with and generous and excited to be a part of SB. Some of you
are moms at home who have never run an ad for your at home business before and I LOVE being a part
of that! A special thank you to all of our supporters, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be able to
serve as many as I do. I could go on and on about how much I love hearing from you and how the subscriber
list has truly come from your referrals. When I begin to tell someone about Social Butterflies, they think
I am selling them something (yeah, an already planned out month of fun!), but when you say "Hey, I get this
email from this girl/mom and she knows (almost) everything that is going on around town. Check it out!", they
are more than interested.
Thank you for helping me create this little newsletter. Thank you for your event suggestions
and for taking the time to email me when you really love a particular newsletter. Thank you for
spreading the word to your friends.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Enjoy~
