Family pic for Dec 2011

Hello!

If we haven't met, I am Cary Heise, owner and creator of Social Butterflies.  I'm a stay-at-home mom of two in Apex.  Pictured above is my family: my husband Rob, my daughter Ashlin (6) and my son Carver (5).

I say it every month, I get so excited creating the newsletters for you! Raleigh is a wonderful area for young families.  We certainly have our pick of big city events and small town activities. Your messages to me about how you use Social Butterflies warms my heart and makes my time creating this for you so worth it!  I shuffle though all the Raleigh area events and bring you what I think will be the most fun and memorable family outings.  We have our favorites, right?  We are so glad Pullen Park is open again!  Fall is a great time in Raleigh with all the family-owned farms letting us run around.  And, of course, Christmas isn't complete without small town parades!  I just love sharing it all with you!

The Social Butterflies' reader list is currently over 2000 families.  I love using this platform to bring awareness to special local causes, service opportunities and fundraisers.  Feel free to email me details for those types of events.  I also love supporting local small business- many are moms like me working from home.

In addition to my Facebook alter ego, Stay at Home Rock Star, this year I started a new group on Facebook for Raleigh Mompreneurs.  Here you can network and learn more about using social media to promote your business.  Please join us!

Thank you for being such loyal readers and for sharing Social Butterflies with your friends!

Warmest Holiday Wishes,
Cary

toys for tots
Toys for Tots Fundraiser-Dog Agility Event at Wild Winds Farm in Oxford this weekend, December 9-11.

The competition consists of dogs running thru obstacle courses.  If you have ever seen the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge on ESPN, it is very much like that.  ALL of the proceeds of this event benefit Toys for Tots.  There is no admission fee, but we will gladly accept donations to Toys for Tots.  It is at an indoor horse arena in Oxford, NC - Wild Winds Farm at 1626 Enon Road in Oxford.  We will have food available for sale (which also benefits Toys for Tots), an awesome raffle of dog and people related prizes (which will be drawn on Sunday afternoon), as well.  We start on Friday at 2:30pm and on Saturday and Sunday at 8:00am.  We will have over 100 runs on Friday, and over 400 runs on Saturday and Sunday.  We will probably run until after 5pm each day.  Well-behaved dogs are welcome as spectators but dogs must have been registered with the North American Dog Agility Council in order to compete.

It is a very family-friendly event and a ton of fun if you are a dog lover.

The arena website is www.wildwindsfarm.com and there are directions on the website.
